My name is Aaron Ammerman. I am a husband, father, grandfather, and proud resident of Cass County. I was born and raised here, and this land has always been my home. The values I live by — faith, loyalty, hard work, and service — were shaped by the people God placed in my life and by the community I have been honored to serve.

I currently serve as a School Board Member for Northland Community Schools. I enjoy working with the people of Northland to help resolve problems and maintain a safe environment for what is most precious in our lives — our children.

At the center of my life is my wife, Crystal. She stood beside me through the hardest seasons of my life — through darkness, struggle, and uncertainty — and never once let go of my hand. Her strength, faith, and unwavering love helped shape the man I am today. Everything I strive to be begins with the promise I made to stand beside her as faithfully as she has stood beside me.

Together, we raised three outstanding young men who represent the best parts of our family and our country.

Our oldest son, Dutch, works as a welder for U.S. Steel. His smile alone can change the atmosphere of a room. He carries himself with pride and a strong work ethic, representing the backbone of America — the hardworking men and women who build and keep this nation running.

Our middle son, Carter, serves in the United States Marine Corps. He has always been fiercely loyal, a protector at heart, and the kind of man who stands between danger and those he loves without hesitation.

Our youngest son, Sulley, also serves in the United States Marine Corps. He has the rare ability to face hardship and still find hope on the other side. His optimism reminds all of us that strength is measured not only by toughness, but also by perspective and faith.

My family — along with countless others throughout this community — are the reason I strive every day to be a better man. They have challenged me, strengthened me, and brought me closer to God. Because of them, I live with purpose.

For the past twenty-two years, I have proudly served as a Deputy with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office. I began my career in the Boat and Water Division, protecting our lakes and helping ensure the safety of families enjoying Minnesota’s outdoors.

After my first year, I joined the SWAT Team, serving as both a breacher and later as a sniper — roles that demanded discipline, trust, and an unwavering commitment to protecting life.

Today, I serve in Court Security, assisting citizens with Orders for Protection, Harassment Restraining Orders, firearm permits, and maintaining the safety and integrity of our courthouse. Every day, I meet people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. My responsibility is not only to enforce the law, but also to listen, guide, and help wherever I can.

Over the years, I have worked countless special details and had the privilege of meeting people from every walk of life throughout this county. I have heard complaints, witnessed hardship, and also seen the incredible goodness that exists within our communities. These experiences have taught me that service is not about recognition — it is about showing up, doing the work, and standing firm when others need stability.

I am also a co-founder of the Cass County Sheriff’s Honor Guard. I believe deeply in honoring the men and women who have served with dignity and integrity. Above all, I have always remained committed to my family, my faith, my brothers and sisters in uniform, and the citizens I swore an oath to serve.

I believe in God.
I believe in family.
I believe in this country and the freedoms we are entrusted to protect.

My life has been shaped by challenges, strengthened by love, and guided by faith. Everything I have done — as a husband, father, grandfather, and deputy — has been driven by one purpose:

To be the very best man I can be for the people who depend on me.

This is my story.

A story of faith, family, and service to something greater than myself.
